Player Profile: Andy van Vliet

Going out with a bang. In his fifth and final season as a Student-Athlete Van Vliet has finally been able to show his qualities on the court as he was one of the lead-players for William & Mary, finishing 2nd on the team in scoring (13.2 ppg), rebounding (8.7 rpg), blocks (1.3 bpg) and minutes played (30.8 mpg).

He helped the Tribe to a 21-11 record over the season as they reached the CAA Quarter-Finals in which they were defeated by Elon (Mar. 8). Over the course of the season Van Vliet recorded 10 Double-Doubles, including a 22 pts & 12 rebs (+ 3 blks) in a win against Hampton (Nov. 15). In a loss at Saint Joseph’s (Dec. 19) he added 17 pts & a season-high 14 rebs. His best overall game of the season however came in a win against James Madison (Jan. 23) when he flirted with a Triple-Double as he finished with 22 pts, 7 rebs, 8 blks & 3 asts in 32 mins.

The end of the season also marks the end of Van Vliet’s college career and at TIB we’re very curious to see where the talented 7 foot tall shooter will end up next.
