Giants start EuroCup campaign with a loss on the road

Despite a strong opening half in which the Antwerp Giants gathered a 40-45 lead, they were unable to keep things going and in a pretty rough third quarter for them with plenty of turnovers and 3 missed dunks (2 misses by Fall Faye and one blocked dunk attempt by Bleijenbergh) the Giants saw the hometeam take control.

The strong play by Jordan Crawford, Will Cummings and Alan Williams turned things around for Lokomotiv Kuban and in the final quarter they ran out to their maximum lead of 17 points to reach the 89-72 final score.

Point Guard Speedy Smith led his troops in their first EuroCup matchup with his 15 pts & 10 asts Double-Double, while his backcourt mate Stephaun Branch chipped in with 13 pts. Dave Dudzinski also finished in double-figures scoring with his 12 pts, despite missing some playing time with a bleeding cut that needed taking care off. Youngster Niels Van Den Eynde made his debut in an official competition game for the Giants to play 7 minutes in which he scored 2 points.
