Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson Out for Another Season
Imaging tests have confirmed that Klay Thompson suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Consequently, the lower right leg injury will sideline the Warriors star for yet another season.
Previously, when he last played in the 2018-2019 season, Thompson sustained an ACL injury in his left leg in Game 6 of the Finals against the Toronto Raptors. He averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.
Surgery and rehab caused him to miss the entire 2019-2020 season; and with this latest injury, Thompson will be out for the second straight season.
Thompson, a three-time champion and five-time All Star, was scheduled to return this season after 16 months.
News of his injury put a damper on the NBA Draft proceedings. NBA players, coaches, officials, and celebrities conveyed their sympathies for Thompson through social media.
The Warriors expect Klay Thompson to make a full and complete recovery.
