Kenneth Smith leaves Antwerp

As revealed earlier, Kenneth Smith leaves Antwerp and signs for Limoges ! Limoges payed a buy out in order to sign Smith. Kenneth Smith now leaves Antwerp and will continue his career in Jeep Elite. He will play his last game for Antwerp tonight against Limburg.

It’s a big loss for Christophe Beghin‘s team, as Smith was clearly one of the best player of the championship. Antwerp will not play in the Eurocup this season anymore but will have to battle to try to retain his title in the Belgian Cup and try to end Oostende’s streak in the championship.

It will be an opportunity for Niels Van Den Eynde, who was Smith’s backup, to show his talent (he scored 13 points against Lietkabelis in Eurocup). Vrenz Bleijenbergh will also certainly play as a point guard. Antwerp will take time to see if a replacement is needed but they will not sign someone right now.

The point guard already played in Belgium last season, with Spirou Charleroi.

This season Smith averaged 15 points, 6 assists and 2.5 rebounds in Eurocup.

In EMBL, he averaged 17.5 points, 10 assists and 5.5 rebounds.
