TDM1 Overview Round 2

Guco LierAntwerp Giants B: 83-55

On Friday Guco Lier used a very strong second half to come away with the 83-55 lopsided victory against the neighbors from Antwerp.

Joppe Mennes again showcased why he’s a very promising talent as he recorded the all-rounded 15 pts, 8 rebs, 5 asts & 3 stls for the winners. Jo Van Buggenhout also showed some very nice things out there with his 15 pts, 5 rebs & 3 asts off the bench. Matthijs Van Den Eynde (13 pts) and newcomer in the squad Niels Xhaët (11 pts) also finished in double-digits scoring.

For the losing team it were the big men who had the nicest performances with Caspar Augustijnen leading the way with his 16 pts, while Seppe Willems added 12 pts & 5 rebs. Both teams now hold a 1-1 record.

Basics MelseleOxaco BBC: 90-64

Basics Melsele had no issues against Oxaco as they cruised to the 90-64 victory and improved to a 2-0 record on the season.

After a rough season-opener Philippe Peeters regained his usual productivity in this game and led the way for Melsele with his 21 pts, 4 rebs & 6 asts. Vincent Vanden Berghe was also feeling it as he dropped 18 pts and added 9 rebs. In a match-up with Joppe, it was clearly Jens Bouckaert who got the upper-hand this time, finishing with 15 pts & 5 rebs, while Mitchel Gorremans came off the bench to add the 10 pts & 11 rebs Double-Double.

It was a rough shooting night for Oxaco as they only shot 32% from the field and just couldn’t seem to get past the Melsele defense. One of the few players who did got through from time to time was Cédric Blanchart who finished with 14 pts & 5 rebs, shooting 44% from the field. Laurens Van Den Hemel recorded 13 pts, while Vic Van Oosterwyck added 12 pts, 6 rebs & 6 asts. Their usual top-scorer Sam Van Hoey (11 pts) is struggling so far this season, shooting only 29% from the field in their first two games.

SKT IeperION Waregem: 75-69

SKT Ieper came back from being down 9 at the half to make the difference in the second half and come away with a hard-fought 75-69 victory against Waregem.

Leading the way for them was Thomas Mertens who’s having an excellent season so far. In Saturday’s game he finished with 19 pts & 7 rebs. He got help from newcomer Spas Nikolov as he added 12 pts & 8 rebs off the bench. Malick Fall (13 pts & 6 rebs) and Anton D’Herck (12 pts) also chipped in nicely for Ieper as they improve to a 2-0 record.

For Waregem it was Aaron Van Vooren who did most of the damage as he led all scorers with his 26 pts and added 5 rebs as well. Lucien “Bibi” Sissoko was also solid with 8 pts & 7 rebs in the loss. With the loss Waregem now holds a 1-1 record.

Kontich WolvesBBC Lommel: 80-73

In what remained a close game throughout it was eventually Kontich who was able to put the game away as they got the 80-73 victory.

Anthony Chada had it going for the Wolves in this one and finished with the 20 pts & 13 rebs Double-Double, while also adding 4 asts to lead the way. Vincent Peeters came off the bench to add 14 pts, while Vincent Benoy (12 pts & 5 rebs) and Jorden Dekoster (10 pts) also finished in double-digits.

For Lommel it was Bram Schelkens who had an excellent game as he led all scorers with his 26 pts. Big Men Matts De Keuster (17 pts & 4 rebs) and Toon Wesenbeek (11 pts & 10 rebs) were also very solid, while Jules Bouts came off the bench to record 10 pts & 5 rebs.

Both teams now hold a 1-1 record.

Merelbeke HawksNeufchâteau: 76-94

It is going to be a long season for the Merelbeke Hawks who drop to an 0-2 record with the 76-94 loss to TDM1 newcomer Neufchâteau.

Nicolas Sturam was the main performer for Neufchâteau as he finished the game with 21 pts & 6 asts coming off the bench. Hugo Deneve was also very solid in this one and recorded the 19 pts & 13 rebs Double-Double. Simon Bizimana (17 pts) and Maxence Dekeyser (15 pts) were the other main scorers for Neufchâteau.

For Merelbeke it was the expected trio to provide some resistance, led by Jean Bonsenge who dropped the highest score of the season so far with his 31 pts. Plamedi Ngolo recorded a nice Double-Double with 12 pts & 11 rebs, while also blocking 3 shots, while Jonathan Balanga finished with 14 pts.

Limburg United BGembo Borgerhout: 69-71

In a game that came down to the wire it was Gembo Borgerhout who were able to hold on to the 69-71 win to improve to a 2-0 record.

Lanky forward Killian Van Den Langenbergh ended up as the main performer as he recorded 20 pts & 4 rebs. Youngster Wannes Tomlow was also very solid and finished with the 10 pts & 10 rebs Double-Double, same as Nils Van Rompaey who added the 13 pts & 12 rebs Double-Double. Anthony Goetgeluck rounded up the main scorers as he added 10 pts.

In the loss for Limburg (who drop to a 0-2 record) it was Jarne Lesuisse who led the squad with his 21 pts, 9 rebs & 5 asts. Matthias Bovy was the only other player from Limburg to reach double-digits scoring with 10 pts, 4 rebs & 5 asts.

Spirou Charleroi BRoyal IV Brussels: 56-77

Royal IV Brussels dominated throughout 3 quarters to get the easy 56-77 win and improve to a 1-1 record, while Charleroi drops to 0-2.

Amaury Marion led all scorers in this game as he finished with 14 pts, while he also added 4 rebs, 3 asts & 5 stls. Gehan Ahanda Noah was also excellent and added the 13 pts & 14 rebs Double-Double. Raphael Morini also recorded a Double-Double, this one 11 pts & 10 rebs. Faycal Laït came off the bench to record 13 pts to round up the main scorers.

The youngsters from Spirou were led by a duo of big men in Milo Hautekeet who finished with 12 pts & 8 rebs and newcomer to the squad Craig Adzeh who added 11 pts.
