TDM1 Overview Round 3

Oxaco BBCGembo Borgerhout: 76-84

In a close match-up it was eventually Gembo who was able to pull off the win on the road as they remain undefeated so far this season (3-0). Oxaco on the other hand are still looking for their first win of the season with their 0-3 record and are currently dangling at the bottom of the Group A standings.

For Gembo it was once again Killian Van Den Langenbergh who led the way as he finished with 19 pts & 9 rebs. He got some solid help from his big men off the bench Nils Van Rompaey (16 pts & 7 rebs) & Jean-Patrick Nyamsi (14 pts & 7 rebs), while youngster Wout Catry got the starting nod and thanked his coach with the 10 pts & 5 asts performance.

For Oxaco it was Joppe Bouckaert who came off the bench to provide the necessary spark and finished with 21 pts on 57% FG shooting. Sam Van Hoey also found his range in this one as he recorded a game-high 26 pts on 55% FG shooting. Cédric Blanchart was the only other Oxaco player to reach double-digits scoring with his 16 pts.

BBC LommelLimburg United B: 71-78

Limburg United B got their first victory of the season as they defeated Lommel on the road with the 71-78 final score. With the win Limburg United B now holds a 1-2 record, while Lommel also holds a 1-2 record after the loss.

Limburg United was led by Wout Leemans who went off for 25 pts, shooting an excellent 62.5% from the field, while also grabbing 9 rebs. Jarne Lesuisse finished with 16 pts, while Frits Hermans (12 pts) and Yannick Ravert (10 pts & 7 rebs) also provided solid contributions.

Matts De Keuster dropped another impressive performance for Lommel as he recorded the 26 pts & 13 rebs Double-Double on an astounding 82% FG shooting. Bram Schelkens also had a nice impact and finished with 19 pts, 4 rebs & 3 asts in the loss. Newcomer in the squad, Dutch forward Tom Ackermans came off the bench and in his first game in TDM1 added 11 pts & 6 rebs.

Merelbeke HawksSpirou Charleroi B: 87-83

In a clash of the two winless teams in Group B it was Merelbeke who came out victorious to claim that much coveted first W of the season (1-2), while Spirou B drop to the 0-3 record.

Lightning quick Guard Jean Bonsenge continues to light up the TDM1 scoreboards as he this time finished with 32 pts (a new season-high) and grabbed 4 steals in the process as well. Big man Plamedi Ngolo added another Double-Double to his conto with 24 pts & 14 rebs, while Jonathan Balanga chipped in with 19 pts on 8-14 FG shooting.

For Spirou B it was Dutch Point Guard Nino Vrencken who led the way with his 26 pts, while Nashaun Ellis (son of Ron Ellis) added the 15 pts & 13 rebs Double-Double. Youngsters Milo Hautekeet (16 pts), Bruno Shema (11 pts) and Adedayo Polet (11 pts) all finished in double digits as well but it wasn’t enough for the win.

Kortrijk SpursSKT Ieper: 94-56

The Kortrijk Spurs made light work of SKT Ieper on Saturday and got the lopsided 94-56 victory to improve to a 2-0 record, while Ieper drops to 2-1.

The Spurs’ new Point Guard Nikolas Tomsick led all scorers this weekend as he dropped 35 pts in the win. Youngster Sean Pouedet also had a strong game and finished with 15 pts. Dani Koljanin (12 pts) and Mathieu Coucke (12 pts) both scored in double-figures as well as Kortrijk rotated their entire roster in the easy win.

For Ieper it was big man Malick El Hadji Fall who led the way as he knocked down 13 pts, while Robin Spaens came off the bench to add 9 pts in the loss.

Antwerp Giants BKontich Wolves: 81-77

The youngsters from Antwerp got the upper-hand in this derby as they defeated Kontich to improve to a 2-1 record, while Kontich on the other hand drop to a 1-2 record.

Abel Baptista was the main scorer for the Giants in this one as he finished the game with 19 pts on 6-12 FG shooting and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe. He got plenty of help from his guards as Quinten Smout added 18 pts & 5 asts and 16 year old Noah Meeusen finished with 17 pts. We also saw a strong game by 18 year old David Verstraeten who came close to a Double-Double with 8 pts & 12 rebs.

Kontich were led by a pair of veterans as Anthony Chada top-scored with his 23 pts & 6 rebs, while Gregory De Pooter added 21 pts & 9 rebs. Former Giant Lander Kuijt finished with 16 pts in the loss.

Guco LierBasics Melsele: 85-55

Big win for the home-team Guco Lier against the undermanned Basics Melsele as they improve to a 2-1 record, while Melsele suffered their first loss of the season (2-1).

Guco Lier made the difference in the second quarter and cruised to the win the rest of the way, using their entire roster. Youngster Jo Van Buggenhout played the most minutes for his squad and led them in scoring as he finished with 16 pts, 4 asts & 4 stls. Sam Dewit was the only other player to reach double-digits scoring with his 14 pts.

Melsele got very little production from their starters as it was their bench players Bryan Van Sande (14 pts) and Mitchel Gorremans (13 pts) who led the way in scoring. Philippe Peeters was the only starter to manage to score in double-figures with his 10 pts.

NeufchâteauLDP Donza: 90-92

The most exciting game of this round came on Sunday as TDM1 newcomers Neufchâteau rallied back in the 4th quarter from being down by 10 pts and almost got away with an upset win, but in the end it was the cool headedness of veteran Senne Geukens who gave the win to LDP Donza who now improve to a 2-0 record, while Neufchâteau drops to 1-2.

In an offensive onslaught for both teams it was Landon Unruh who led LDP Donza with 24 pts & 6 rebs, while Senne Geukens added 22 pts & 8 rebs, including some very clutch Free-Throws to secure the victory. Rik Van Den Berghe also had it going for LDP and added 21 pts & 9 rebs.

Neufchâteau was led by Hugo Deneve who managed the 24 pts & 10 rebs Double-Double, while Nicolas Sturam (14 pts) and Maxence Dekeyser (14 pts) fueled their 4th quarter surge. Pierre Geubel also finished in double-digits scoring as he added 12 pts.

Royal IV BrusselsION Waregem: 82-60

Royal IV Brussels improved to a 2-1 record as they easily defeated the visiting Waregem (1-2) this Sunday afternoon.

Royal IV got a solid performance by Amaury Marion who led the way with his 18 pts, 5 rebs & 3 asts, while newcomer Kelvin Okundaye added 16 pts in the easy win. Boris Penninck chipped in with 13 pts, 4 rebs & 3 asts as Coach Joostens allowed playing-time to his entire roster.

For Waregem only two players managed to score in double-digits, led by Noah Gebbert as he scored 21 pts on 8-13 FG shooting, while big man Aaron Van Vooren added 13 pts.
