Arthur Goethals: “If necessary, we will wait until January to start the season”

Arthur Goethals, the president of the Belgian basketball league, gave an interview to HLN where he gives his thoughts on the current situation: “The basketball season won’t start without fans. We respect all the sanitary measures, but we won’t play in empty arenas. If our capacity is limited, we can accept it. But we don’t want to be only accessible to our fans via livestream. If necessary, we will wait until January to start the season.

Goethals also talked about the difficulties that the clubs may have in this difficult period and for him, there will be 10 clubs in Euromillions Basketball League next season: “I have the feeling, from informal discussions, that our clubs are holding up well despite this difficult period. At the end of next week, the licensing commitee will confirm that.
