Belgium beats Czech Republic 62-90 . The Lions sit at the top of group C with 3 wins in 3 games.

Jean-Marc Mwema started the game strong, he scored 8 points in the first 3 minutes for the Lions (6-12). The Lions were unstoppable, they scored 19 points in the first 5 minutes (10-19 after 5′) ! Thomas Akyazili was efficient from the bench with 5 quick points and Belgium was up by 8 at the end of the first quarter (19-27).

In the second quarter, Andy Van Vliet scored 4 quick points, his first for the Belgian Lions. Belgium was up by 10 affter 13 minutes (25-35). After a nice jumper from Kevin Tumba, who plays for Rhodes in Greece, the Lions were up by 12 (27-39 after 15′). Ondrej Balvin was dominant in the paint but Belgium reacted well with 3’s from Gillet and Obasohan (36-47 at halftime).

In the third quarter, Czech Republic couldn’t stop the Lions, Belgium was up by 20 (46-66 after 28′) ! On the free-throw line, Czech Republic cut the deficit to 19 at the end of the third quarter (51-70).

In the last quarter, Belgium increased its lead mainly on the free-throw line (62-90).

For Belgium, Retin Obasohan recorded 18 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds while Pierre-Antoine Gillet had 13 points and Alex Libert 10 points on a perfect shoting afternoon.

Belgium will play this Sunday against Lithuania at 18H30.
