U20 Lions fall to Czech Republic and will play for 3rd place
There won’t be a finals for our U20 Belgian Lions who couldn’t find their rhythm against the Czech Republic and take the 82-64 loss.
Unable to get to the basket against the Czech defense our youngsters blasted away from long-range with very minimal success (6/30 on 3pt shots) and it was only Haris Bratanović who was able to put some points up on the board in the first half to eventually finish the game with 14 pts & 5 rebs. In the second half Bratanovic got some help from Servaas Buysschaert (9 pts & 5 rebs) and in the final quarter Vrenz Bleijenbergh drained a couple of threes to get to his 13 pts, 5 rebs, 3 asts & 4 stls. It was all too little, too late to really concern the Czechs though as they easily defended their lead and deservedly head to the Finals.
With this loss Belgium will now play for third place against the loser of the duel between Russia and Portugal, a game that will tip-off in about 30 minutes.
