Euroleague: Sam Van Rossom (Valencia) hits the game-winner against Maccabi Tel Aviv !
The Spaniards from Valencia won, after a suspensefull game, Friday night at home (82-80) against Maccabi Tel Aviv on the tenth day in the Euroleague basketball.
Sam Van Rossom scored the winning basket with only seconds to go. After a game of twists and turns, Sam Van Rossom’s teammates snatched victory in the dying seconds against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
In the first half, it was the Spaniards who took control of the game (43-37 after 20′) at the break.
With one minute to go Maccabi had a confortable lead thanks to a big second half from Scottie Wilbekin (74-79). But with only 7 seconds to go, Derrick Williams‘ the number 2 pick of the draft 2011, scored a clutch 3 to tie the game (80-80). Everyone thought it was time for Scottie Wilbekin to win the game. But the good agressive defense on the pick & roll from Bojan Dubljevic forced the turnover !The Belgian was alone in transition, he offered the victory to the Spaniards on easy layup (82-80).
Despite his huge turnover, Scottie Wilbekin finished the game with 25 points (7 three pointers).
The Belgian Lion ended the game with 4 points , 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in 21 minutes.
In the standings, Valencia goes back to fourth place with a record of 6 wins for 3 losses. Next Friday, Valencia will travel to Turkey to face Fenerbahce .
